By: Savanna Santelices

Watch out Floridians, the Florida Lottery is warning you to be careful when you play because there is a scam going around with the mega millions.

Lottery officials say it is an “advance fee lottery” scam in which fake notices from the FBI or Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC) are sent to citizens claiming they won prizes.

The fake notices tell the fake winners that they should wire transfer thousands of dollars to the scam organizers to secure their winnings.

Also, they appear real as they include stationary from the FBI and FDOT labels.

The Florida Lottery says one scam letter even included a photo showing three FBI agents to prove its validity.

According to the lottery, players will never be required to transfer funds to secure their winnings for Mega Millions or any other Florida Lottery games.

Next time tell your parents to watch out when they play the lottery!!!
